Adventures in Coffee - Nutella-lined cup Cappuccino

Good Morning, Readers.

Welome to Lagniappe!

The sun is shining in Northwest Colorado today and it feels amazing!

Today I decided to try lining my cup with Nutella before making this morning's cappuccino. Sounded like a great idea, Right?

Here's the process and the result.

1) Line cup with approx. 2 heaping teaspoons of Nutella.

2) Grind Whole Bean Illy Coffee (Or your coffee of choice) then add to either stovetop espresso maker or espresso machine. I used a Stainless steel stovetop espresso maker we purchased in Italy.

3) Brew espresso. Love this little low maintenance, easy to use espresso maker.

4) Froth creamer/milk. I used Sugar Free Coffee Mate Creamer - Sweet Italian Cream. Whole Milk produces a richer creamer froth so if you can drink Whole Milk, I suggest using it or even 2%. I have the Verismo Frother. Warms and froths milk in 90 seconds.

The Coffeemate creamer has larger bubbles and is not as creamy as milk, but is not bad.

 6) Fill lined cup with coffee.

7) Pour warmed/frothed creamer/milk into cup then spoon in froth.

8) Finished product. A Coffeemate Italian Sweet Cream, Illy cappuccino in a Nutella-lined cup.

 9) Done. Verdict?

As you can see, the Nutella didn't melt into the drink as I anticipated. All the Nutella is still on the sides of the cup. Maybe a more natural chocolate spread without so much oil would have blended with the drink. I didn't get that Mocha/Chocolate taste in the coffee as I'd hoped for.

Verdict:  Not really worth the extra effort unless you really want to run your spoon along the inside of the cup and have warm straight Nutella. Or a warm spread to put on a pastry. But there are other easier ways to warm your pastry spread.

What do you think? Would you try this? Any other ideas we can try on Adventures in Coffee?

Readers, thanks for visiting Lagniappe.

I pray you find
"a little something extra"
in each of your days.

Marian

Glad you shared your experiment with us. Sure sounded good. Too bad it didn't work like it sounded it would.
Have a great day.

I love Nutella but coffee, no way. Maybe with hot chocolate.

Robin, thanks for stopping by. It was a fun experiment to try! I hope your day has been great!

Linda, Hot chocolate might work. I'd just melt the Nutella right in there and stir! I only drink coffee in the winter, I'll have to come up with something fun this summer!
